MNI BRIEF: Japan Nov Wages Rise; Real Pay Remains Negative

TOKYO (MNI)

Average wages in Japan rose 0.3% y/y in November. but real wages remained in negative territory, down 1.6% for the third straight month, preliminary data released on Friday by the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare showed.

Total monthly average cash earnings per regular employee were unchanged y/y in November following +0.2% in October.

In real terms, average wages fell 1.6% y/y in November, for the third straight drop following -0.7% in October. Total CPI minus impute rents rose 1.7% y/y in November after rising 1.0% in October.
