MNI BRIEF: Japan Sept Jobless Rate 2.8%, Unchanged From August

Japan's average unemployment rate stood at a seasonally-adjusted 2.8% in September, unchanged from August, data released by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications on Friday showed.

The total number of employed rose 280,000 (+0.4%) m/m in September and the number of unemployed fell by 20,000 (-1.0%) in September.

The job-to-applicant ratio, a leading indicator of the employment market, stood at 1.16 in September, up from 1.14 in August and for the first increase in two months, according to data released by the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare.
