MNI (OTTAWA) - Canada's Justice Minister Arif Virani on Thursday declined to say if Prime Minister Justin Trudeau should quit or stay on, adding to a week of uncertainty about political leadership that's helped push the country's dollar to the weakest in several years.

Speaking to reporters in Toronto, Virani said those kinds of decisions will be made by others in Ottawa. Trudeau has been largely absent from the public eye since Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland quit Monday rather than deliver a budget update that she said contained gimmicks rather than a plan to deal with Donald Trump's threat of a 25% tariff.
