MNI BRIEF: Lombardelli To Be Next BOE Deputy Governor MonPol
OECD Chief Economist and former top Treasury official Clare Lombardelli to replace Ben Broadbent from July 1.
Clare Lombardelli, chief economist at the OECD and previously a top UK Treasury official, has been appointed to replace Ben Broadbent as Bank of England Deputy Governor for Monetary Policy.
Lombardelli will start in her now role on July 1 and has been given a standard five year term. The role is at the heart of the Bank's policy making and forecasting processes, and she will be in place to implement any reforms following on from the review of the BOE's uses and communication of its foreceast by former Fed head Ben Bernanke, who is set to publish his report in April.
Lombardelli has spent her career as a public sector economist. Her first job was at the Bank and she worked at the IMF and Treasury, rising to be joint head of the Government Economic Service before moving to head up forecasting at the OECD.
