MNI BRIEF: March Consumer Inflation Expectations Mixed -NY Fed

Consumer inflation expectations in March were unchanged at the 1-year horizon, increased at the three-year horizon and decreased at the five-year horizon, the New York Fed said Monday in its latest Survey of Consumer Expectations.

The median one-year ahead expectation was 3.0% for a third straight month, while three-year expectations rose to 2.9% from 2.7% and five-year expectations fell to 2.6% from 2.9%.

Consumers were more concerned about losing their job and finding a new job last month, the survey found, though their expectations about earnings growth and whether the unemployment rate will be higher a year from now were unchanged.
