Protecting small and medium sized investors in the stock market remains the most important task for regulators, Wu Qing, head of the China Securities Regulatory Commission, said Wednesday. (see MNI: China Must Address Investor Concerns To Boost A-shares)

Speaking to reporters, Wu said regulators would make efforts to attract long term investors, and ensure the market becomes fair and just. Recent market volatility had shown deep seated problems that needed to be considered, and while China may be the second largest stock market in the world, it lacked strength, Wu continued.
