MNI BRIEF: NDRC To Boost Demand With Policy Support

MNI (BEIJING)

China will prioritise automobile consumption and energy storage infrastructure to boost domestic demand, according to the National Development and Reform Commission.

At a press conference earlier Friday, a spokesperson said Beijing would deal with insufficient demand with policy support to increase new energy vehicles in rural areas and also accelerate the 102 megaprojects in the 14th Five Year Plan. Policy makers will also expand employment channels for college graduates and seek foreign private capital to stimulate the economy, the spokesperson said.

China’s recent economic data has pointed to a slowdown in the economy with analysts and policy experts calling for strong fiscal support in H2 (see: MNI INTERVIEW: Weak China PMI Demand Needs Fiscal Support - Bonds & Currency News | Market News).
