MNI BRIEF: New BOJ Gov Must Be Skilled Communicator - Kishida

Prime Minister Fumio Kishida said on Wednesday the new Bank of Japan governor must have a high ability to communicate with the heads of major central banks and market players.

Kishida, speaking to the Lower House budget committee, said that it was remarkably important for the BOJ governor to work in close cooperation with other leading central bankers, as well as domestic and offshore financial market participants.

He also the government will pay a great attention to the financial market impact of the nominee for BOJ governor. The prime minister it was premature to comment on a possible revision of a joint statement between the government and the BOJ made in 2013.
