MNI BRIEF: One-Year Consumer Inflation Expectations Slow- ECB

(MNI) London
The ECB's consumer sentiment survey sees 12-month price expectations slow, with 3-year expectations unchanged.

Eurozone one-year consumer price inflation expectations slowed for a sixth straight month in March, to 3.0% from 3.1%, the lowest since December 2021, while the outlook for the three-year horizon was unchanged at 2.5% for a fourth consecutive month, an ECB survey showed, in data likely to reinforce expectations for a June rate cut.

Inflation expectations over the one-year and three-year horizons remained well below the perceived past inflation rate, which was 5.0%, down from 5.5% in February. Uncertainty about inflation expectations over the next 12 months edged down to the lowest level since the start of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.
