MNI BRIEF: Strong Rebound in H2 For EZ Economy

BRUSSELS (MNI)

The eurozone will see a strong recovery in H2 and into 2022, European Commissioner for the Economy Paolo Gentiloni said Friday. Speaking following the Eurogroup meeting in Lisbon, Gentiloni said Euro area GDP is now projected to "return to its pre-pandemic level by early next year, sooner than expected in our previous forecast."

Addressing the recovery fund, Gentiloni said the aim was still to make the first pre-financing available before the summer, but a "precondition for this is the ratification of the Own Resources Decision". He urged all Member States to do everything possible to complete that process without further delay.
