MNI BRIEF: U.S. GDP Jumps 4.9% In Q3, Strongest Since 2021

(MNI) WASHINGTON

The U.S. economy grew 4.9% in the third quarter, the fastest pace in nearly two years, raising worries that the economy is still too robust for inflation to return smoothly to the Federal Reserve's 2% target.

There were some promising signs for Fed policy inside the GDP report. In particular, core PCE grew just 2.4% versus 3.7% in the prior quarter.
