MNI DATA BRIEF: US Jobless Claims Rise From Year Low

WASHINGTON (MNI)

U.S. jobless claims filed through March 27 rose 61,000 to 719,000 following a dip to 658,000 through March 20 that was the lowest level since the pandemic started a year ago, the Labor Department said Thursday.

Meanwhile, continuing claims filed through March 20 fell 46,000 to 3.79 million. Claims for Pandemic Unemployment Assistance fell to 237,025 through March 27 from 241,137 through March 20. Just over 18 million Americans were claiming unemployment insurance benefits through March 13, down from 19.731 million through March 6.
