MNI: CORONAVIRUS UPDATE:
Focus remains on the uptick in cases outside of Chinese borders. South Korean
figures are source of particular concern, with an additional 571 cases reported
today to a total of 2,337. Italy have reported a total of 655 cases while UK
have 17 cases confirmed, according to BBC.
- Western governments are now clearly beginning to take action, with the Swiss
government today banning all large scale events involving more than 1,000 people
until "at least" March 15th.
- Reports in Japan of the first person to have contracted Coronavirus not once,
but twice has also raised concerns. The individual was discharged after
recovering and testing negative, but has since been diagnosed as positive again.
- The Times reports worries that Iran may be under-reporting case numbers, with
Canadian epidemiologists estimating that there must already be "at least 18,000
cases" rather than the 245 reported. One of Iran's most senior vice presidents
is a confirmed positive case.
