MNI Global Morning Briefing

MNI (London)
LONDON (MNI) - With Thursday's central bank fest out of the way, Friday
sees a quiet end to the week. There are three releases worth noting to end the
week, with the ACEA November car registrations data at 0700GMT, the Euro Area
December flash composite PMI at 0900GMT and US November retail sales at 1330GMT.
Euro area car registrations declined by 7.3% y/y in October as they recover
from the September emissions standards.
ECB Vice-President Luis de Guindos speaks in Frankfurt at 0815GMT.
The November composite PMI was 52.7. However, the MNI median points to a
slight drop in the reading to 52.5 for the December flash.
At 1100GMT is BBK Burkhard Balz speaking at the local employers'
association Lower Saxony in Hannover, Germany.
Retail sales are forecast to rise only 0.1% in November after a stronger
than expected 0.8% gain in October. Not seasonally adjusted industry motor
vehicle sales slipped in November, while AAA reported that gasoline prices fell
sharply in mid-November from one month earlier. Retail sales are expected to
also rise 0.1% excluding motor vehicles after a 0.7% jump in October.
ECB Supervisory Board member Ignazio Angeloni finishes the speeches for the
