MNI Global Morning Briefing: Eurozone IP In Focus

Monday's main data release will be the eurozone April industrial production data, due at 1000BST.

With all the national IP data now released, overall eurozone data is expected to rise 0.4% on the month, beating the more modest 0.1% gain seen in March. However, undoubtedly the striking number will be the expected 37.4% y/y gain -- a base effect against the first full month of coronavirus restrictions across Europe last year.

German, French and Italian data all showed strong year on year gains last week and that will be reflected in the pan-euro data as the manufacturing sector continues to underpin the recovery.

The only U.S data expected Monday is the NY Fed expectations survey at 1500BST. However, ahead of that at 1330BST, the lates Canadia manufacturing sales report is due, with expectations of at 3.5% m/m gain.
