MNI BRIEF: China Aiming For Stronger Growth Ahead: Communique

BEIJING (MNI)

China will build a strong, balanced economy focusing on improved efficiency and quality, making full use of the country's growth potential over the next five years, according to a communiqué published following the Fifth Plenary Session of the Communist Party, meeting in Beijing to set the goals for the country's 14th Five-Year Plan.

The gathering didn't set an exact numerical growth target for the period,a highlight of previous Five-Year Plans, while raising goals including a stronger domestic market, an optimized economic structure and an improved capacity for innovation0. Additionally, it sought an upgraded industrial base and modernized supply chain, the communiqué released by Xinhua News Agency said.

Overall, China should achieve fuller and higher-quality employment, with overall income growth in line with economic growth and wealth distributing structure greatly improved, the statement said.
