MNI: BOK Lee: Virus Spread May Slow Recovery: Press

The resurgent coronavirus is increasing uncertainties, such as a delay of economic recovery, Bank of Korea Chairman Lee Juyeol said Monday, wowKorea reported.

Lee, speaking to the Korean at the National Assembly, said exports and consumption had shown of improving after the economy worsened significantly, but their recovery would likely weaken due to the spread of coronavirus.

As for the global economy, Lee said the world economy is expected to recover moderately as economic activities resumed. but warned that the spread of coronavirus hasn't eased and high uncertainties remain over the outlook.

He also said that the BOK will maintain accommodative policy in order to support the economy and the bank needs to carefully examine the impact of the policy measures and of the spread of coronavirus on financial markets and the economy.
