MNI POLICY: China-EU Agreement to Focus On Market Access

China and the E.U. have made a "major breakthrough" on the issue of fair competition during the latest negotiations over a bilateral investment deal and talks starting next week will focus on issues of market access and text of the deal, said Gao Feng, spokesman of China's Ministry of Commerce. .

During the video meeting attended by leaders of China, German and the European Commission this week, the leaders reaffirmed to achieve the goal of completing the negotiations within the year, Gao said.

"This reflects the great importance that China and the EU attach to the negotiation for the investment agreement and their firm confidence in reaching a high-level agreement as soon as possible," he added.
