MNI POLICY: China to Boost Auto Consumptions, Online Services

BEIJING (MNI) - China will reduce limits on car purchases, promote
replacement of old home appliances and electronics, and promote online services
to revive growth, said Meng Wei, the spokeswoman of the National Development and
Reform Commission at a briefing on Friday.
Here are key points from Meng's briefing:
     - China will integrate service and manufacturing industries, promote the
development of high-end medical equipment such as surgical robots and remote
diagnosis, as well as encouraging internet-based education, health care, culture
and sports.
     - China will boost rural spending on ecommerce by improving logistical
infrastructure.
     - China will raise pig production with subsidies and policy support, expand
imports of pork, beef and mutton, as well as release pork reserves timely to
ensure stable meat supply and prices before the Chinese New Year at the end of
January.
     - China's recent move to lower the minimum capital requirement for some
infrastructure projects by up to 5% will help boost investment.
