MNI POLICY: China Wants Relations with US 'Back on Track'

BEIJING (MNI)

China's National Development and Reform Commission told senior executives from American companies that the government wants relations with the U.S. back on a track of cooperation and stability, a statement on the planner's website said Tuesday.

Both the US and China can jointly fight the (Covid-19) epidemic and promote global recovery, Vice Chairman Ni Jizhe told the American Chamber of Commerce in China via an online forum, the statement said. China will continue to open up and create a better business environment for foreign investors and businesses as it strives for positive growth this year, said Ning.

More than 70% of American companies with investments in China interviewed by AmCham China had no plans to move supply chains from the mainland, the statement said citing the industry group's head Gregory Gilligan. Representatives of Hewlett Packard, Qualcomm, Louis Dreyfus, Mars and Dell reportedly attended the meeting, the statement said.
