MNI POLITICAL RISK ANALYSIS - Week Ahead 11-17 December

(MNI) London – All timings subject to change.

Monday 11 December:

  • Poland: Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki is expected to lose a vote in the lower house of parliament (Sejm) regarding his proposed Cabinet, setting the stage for the ouster of the right-wing Law and Justice Party (PiS) that has governed Poland for the past eight years. PiS won a plurality in the October general election but fell short of an overall majority. Instead, former PM Donald Tusk is set to return to office at the head of a broad pro-EU coalition that can command a majority in parliament. The Sejm will likely vote on Tusk’s proposed Cabinet on 12 December, before President Andrzej Duda likely swears in the government on 13 December.
