MNI POLITICAL RISK - Harris Makes Second Trip To Border
- Former President Donald Trump will meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy at Trump Tower in New York City today. Trump's remarks at a rally in Michigan this evening will be closely scrutinised after Trump and his allies in Congress gave Zelenskyy a hostile welcome this week.
- Vice President Kamala Harris will be at the US-Mexico border today, where she is likely to argue that the border crisis was exacerbated by Trump’s decision to tank a bipartisan border security deal. The trip will be her second to the border since assuming the vice presidency.
- A looming port strike, “could become the most disruptive strike to the US economy in decades,” with thousands of workers at East Coast and Gulf of Mexico ports set to down tools on Tuesday.
- White House National Economic Advisor Lael Brainard said in a statement on yesterday's second-quarter GDP report: “...the economy has grown by 3.2% per year during Biden-Harris Administration—even stronger than previously estimated—and better than the first three years of the previous administration."
