MNI: UK Preliminary Data Survey - December BoE MPC Minutes

MNI (London)
By Jamie Satchithanantham
LONDON (MNI) - The Bank of England's Monetary Policy Committee will publish
their latest decision Thursday and analysts are unanimous in seeing no change in
policy.
After delivering the first rate hike in ten years early in November, and
providing virtually no dialogue in the accompanying minutes suggestive of
further tightening in the near term, it seems as though the last MPC meeting of
the year will be a non-event.
Of the 13 analysts polled, all expected the MPC to keep the status quo
--holding the Bank Rate at 0.5% and the stock of total assets at stg445bn (gilts
stg435bn, corporate bonds stg10bn).
Eyes will likely be on the minutes again to see whether any language was
indicative of any future changes monetary policy changes.
