Personal income rose 10.5% in April after falling -2.2% in March, shattering
market expectations for a -6.0% drop. The increase was primarily tied to
Covid-19 relief aid from the government this month, the Bureau of Economic
Analysis said Thursday. Meanwhile, current dollar PCE plummeted -13.6%, falling
past a -6.9% decline in March. The BEA said the drop was driven by a significant
decline in spending for foods and beverages, health care, and accommodations.
