Modest Paring Of Significant Gains

EGBS
  • EGBs have most recently seen a modest paring of large gains as the pace of the rally slows compared to the hours after the open this morning. Bunds and OATs marginally outperform (10YY -10.5bps) BTPs and Spain (-9bps).
  • Still no clear driver for the day's rally that’s been seen across thin markets with US and UK holidays as the US debt deal heads to Congress, but it sees Bund yields of 2.432% off 2.422% having come close to Wednesday’s low of 2.413%.
  • Meanwhile at the front end, Schatz yields are down 5.5bps on the day but ECB pricing is little changed from earlier, with a terminal at a depo-equivalent of 3.825% for October (+57.5bp of hikes from here) still down only 3bps on the day.
