Mozambique LNG May Restart in H1 2023

The Indian oil company BPCL has announced that Mozambique LNG production may restart in the first half 2023.

  • BPCL holds a 10% stake in the 12.88mtpa Mozambique LNG Project, led by Total Energies.
  • The project was stopped, and force majeure declared in March last year following a terrorist attack.
  • "Now, with the efforts of the Mozambican Government, supported by a regional coalition, progress is being made in improving the security situation in the region, and the project will resume as soon as the security situation is stabilized in a sustainable manner", said BPCL managing director said on Monday.
  • BPCL has a purchase and sale agreement valid for 15 years for 1m tonnes of LNG.
