Multiple Sources Reporting Ukrainian Counter-Attack Underway

Pentagon Press Secretary John Kirby has appeared to confirm earlier reports that the Ukrainian military has begun a counter-offensive against Russian forces in the north of the country.

• Kirby quoted by CNN said: 'Ukraine had begun to shift the battlefield momentum in some areas to reclaim ground from invading forces. The Ukrainians were in places and at times going on an offensive.'
• Dan Lamothe of the Washington Post says: 'Pentagon isn’t commenting on specific locations, but senior defense official says “we’re starting to see indications” that Ukraine is “now able and willing to take back territory.”'
• FP Pentagon reporter Jack Detsch: 'Ukraine's military is now trying to push the Russians out of Izyum, in East Ukraine, and has held Mykolaiv against Russian attack.'
• If these reports are accurate they would signal a significant shift in the dynamics of the war.
