Narrow Trade After Yesterday's Sell Off

Aussie bond futures dealt either side of unchanged during Sydney hours, with YM closing -0.5 and XM at unchanged levels, stabilsing after Monday's sell off.

  • The latest round of RBA communique, the meeting minutes from its February decision, provided no surprises, coming hot on the heels of a run of appearances from Governor Lowe.
  • The local COVID picture is a little murkier, with positive vaccine news in recent days somewhat countered by the failure of the Victorian state premier re: ruling out an extension of the snap COVID lockdown.
  • Local supply saw Suncorp-Metway price a A$750mn round of 5-Year unsecured paper.
  • Westpac's leading index and A$1.5bn of ACGB 1.00% 21 December 2030 supply headline locally on Wednesday. Elsewhere, RBA Assistant Governor Kent will speak at the Finance & Treasury Association's FX roundtable webinar.
