NATGAS: Gas Capacity Booked for Slovakia to Austria in Decmeber

NATGAS

Almost all of the interruptible marketable gas capacity from Slovakia into Austria at the Baumgarten cross-border interconnection point was booked at a monthly Prisma auction on Tuesday.

  • Booked December capacity marketed by Austria’s TSO Gas Connect Austria was 19,000,000 kWh/h, or 456 GWh/day compared to just 187,000 kWh/h for November.
  • Austria is buying Russian gas via third party on the spot market but not directly from Gazprom. Gazprom has sold more gas to Slovakia's SPP since it stopped sales to OMV. SPP has then resold gas to Austrian buyers, Reuters sources said.
  • Russian gas export flows via Ukraine to Europe were stable at 42.1mcm/d today while nominations for supply to Austria from Slovakia jumped by 21%, according to Reuters citing Gazprom and Eustream data.
  • Austrian officials and OMV have said the country can cope without Russian supplies despite them typically making up the vast majority of regular supply.
