POLAND: NBP Apologises MPC's Litwiniuk, WSE Closed

POLAND
  • In a late-night post on X, the National Bank of Poland (NBP) apologised Monetary Policy Council (MPC) member Przemyslaw Litwiniuk for accusing him of spreading misinformation and participating in the election campaign a year ago. Back in October 2023, Litwiniuk told reporters that fuel prices will likely rebound after the election due to their artificial suppression by the incumbent administration amid the ongoing campaign. Commenting on the apology, Litwiniuk said that he "accepts it" and "considers the case closed."
  • The Ministry of Foreign Affairs warned that it would take Hungary to the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU) should it fail to comply with the European arrest warrant (EAW) issued against ex-Deputy Justice Minister Marcin Romanowski, who was granted asylum in Hungary.
  • Warsaw Stock Exchange is closed for holidays through December 26. Otherwise, Poland observes public holidays on December 25-26.
