ISRAEL: Netanyahu Set To Deliver Statement On Ceasefire After Sec Cab Meeting

ISRAEL

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is set to make an official statement this evening regarding the future of the ceasefire agreement with Hamas. This comes after a four-hour meeting of the Security Cabinet in which ministers discussed US President Donald Trump's ultimatum to Hamas that they must release all Israeli hostages by midday on Saturday or "all hell is going to break out".

  • i24 reports that according to a political source, "all cabinet members expressed support for the demand of US President Donald Trump to release our hostages by Saturday noon, and for his vision for the future of the Gaza Strip." This comes after Netanyahu reportedly "ordered the reinforcement of forces in and around the Gaza Strip, and to prepare for any scenario if Hamas does not release the hostages this coming Saturday according to the agreement."
  • Ynet reports that according to its source "there will be no progress in the continued implementation of the agreement and in negotiations on Phase B - without the return of our hostages. The cabinet expects the release of all nine hostages from Phase A within a few days."
  • N12 on the other hand reports that according to its source, if Hamas complies with the phase 1 agreement (the release of 3 hostages on Saturday) that phase of the ceasefire will remain in place.
