Next US-Russia Strategic Stability Talks Eyed in January 2022

  • CIA Head says the US is monitoring Russian troop movements on Ukraine's border but notes there is nothing overtly aggressive about the activity as of yet. He did warn, however, that Russia is "close to" using gas exports as leverage
  • Bavaria's Head, Markus Sorder, vows to launch the Nord Stream pipeline as soon as possible to boost gas supply to Germany ahead of the cold season.
    • Says "we cannot stand aside and watch prices rise ahead of winter. People are expecting a quick solution and the lack of resources is becoming more severe"
  • Defence Min Shoigu says US & NATO warships are attempting to test the strength of Russia's Black Sea coast and southern border.
    • Says the fact that the vessels are carrying long-range precision weapons is of concern and will be monitored. Also notes that drills are planned with Georgian and Ukrainian navies
