No Charges Made Yet in Godongwana Allegations

SOUTH AFRICA

  • 2024 opinion polling continues to show the ANC are likely to retain power, although support is seen slipping among the major cities, according to the Social Research Foundation. The polling follows a much-covered poll from last month, which showed ANC support dipping below 50%.
  • Central Energy Fund data shows that the magnitude of the expected drop for fuel prices in September is continuing to slip, with the price of 95 unleaded expected to fall by around R2.28 a litre in the first week of September. Earlier this month, petrol looked set for a R2.60 decline.
