No Negev Summit Btwn Israel & Arab States; Diplo Relations Too Tense

Moroccan Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita has confirmed that the Negev Summit involving Israel and the Arab signatories of the Abraham Accords (Morocco, UAE, Sudan, and Bahran) will not take place this summer. Bourita cited "agenda problems and an unpropitious political context", likely referring to anger in the Arab world at the escalating violence between Israeli settlers and Palestinians in the West Bank.

  • While the Israeli gov't has proved keen to develop diplomatic relations with Arab nations, the right-wing gov'ts rhetoric and actions towards Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza Strip have hampered any further development of links with Abraham Accord nations or moves towards the normalisation of diplomatic relations with others (notably Saudi Arabia).
