North Dakota oil output estimated down up to 160,000 bpd, state regulator says

  • North Dakota oil production was estimated to be down between 130,000 and 160,000 b/d as of Thursday morning due to the recent extreme cold and related operational challenges.
  • Associated wellhead natural gas production was estimated to be down 0.37-0.45 bcf/d, said Justin Kringstad, director of the North Dakota Pipeline Authority.
  • "Warmer weather moves into the region starting today. I am anticipating up to a week for the majority of the curtailed production to be back online," Kringstad said in an emailed statement.
