Norway’s Hydro Stocks Fell Well Bove 5-Year Average

Norwegian hydropower reserves declined by 3.2 percentage points last week to 76.3% of capacity as of 22 November, widening the deficit to the five-year average to the highest level since mid-May, NVE data showed.

  • The deficit to the five-year average widened to 3.58 percentage points last week, compared with 1.32 points the week prior.
  • Norwegian hydropower output rose on the week. Production from reservoirs rose by 884.96MW on the week to 16.447GW. Natural gas and onshore wind output was mostly stable on the week, Entso-E data showed.
  • Forecasts suggest low precipitation for the hydro-intensive region of Vestland, limiting inflows into reserves.
