Norwegian Gas Flows To Europe Dip As Maintenance Ramps Up

Norwegian pipeline gas flows to Europe fell to the lowest level since 14 July on Thursday as annual maintenance is ramping up, Gassco remit data show.

  • Piped gas flows from Norway to Europe fell to 269.7mcm/d on Thursday, the lowest level since 14 July and down from last week’s average of 321.1mcm/d.
  • Flows significantly reduced on the day with the begin of maintenance at the Ormen Lange and Segal fields. Omen Lange will further reduce output on 25-26 August.
  • A total of 55.50mcm/d of Norwegian gas capacity is offline as of 24 August. Unavailability will almost double to 103.4mcm/d on Friday and further gradually ramp up in the coming weeks to reach a peak of 173.4mcm/d of unavailable capacity on 4 September.
  • Annual maintenance at the Troll field will increase unavailable capacity to 53.5mcm/d, from currently 34.5mcm/d, on Friday. The Kvitebjorn and Visund fields will also begin yearly maintenance on Friday.
