NSC Indo-Pacific Head: EU, US Must Deepen Talks On China Tech Exports

While the US Ambassador to China speaks to an event in Washington, US National Security Council Coordinator for the Indo-Pacific Kurt Campbell is speaking to the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) Transatlantic Dialogue on the Indo-Pacific. Campbell says that the US and EU need to deepen discussions on technology and about certain types of restrictions (referring to high-tech and chip exports to China).

  • Says that the Relationship between China and Russia in Ukraine "is concerning".
  • At the same event, Gunnar Wiegand - Managing Director for Asia and the Pacific at the European External Action Service (EEAS) says on US-China links that it is 'absolutely critical that the US and China establish all channels of communication with each other again.
  • On NATO-Asia links, Campbell states that 'We are still in very preliminary steps' with regards to NATO links with Asian nations. Calls the AP Forum an 'informal' meeting where countries can 'compare notes' rather than being an established institution, and that 'we must tread carefully' with regards to other nations and supranational bodies.
