OIL: Record China Crude Imports from Iran Expected on August

OIL

China’s crude imports from Iran are expected to rise from 1.24mb/d in July to a record 1.75mb/d in August, according to Kpler data cited by Bloomberg.

  • The previous record was 1.66mb/d in October 2023, according to data back to January 2013.
  • Shipments into Lanqiao/Rizhao and Dalian almost doubled m/m to 342kb/d and 132kb/d respectively.
  • “Chinese teapots see refining margins slightly improving, they now have stronger motivation to ramp up production and therefore need more feedstock,” said Muyu Xu at Kpler.
