US DATA PREVIEW
US DATA PREVIEW: On tap for Friday: April durable goods new orders; Q2 St. Louis
and NY Fed Real GDP Nowcasts.
- Barclays forecast overall durable goods orders "to move down 1.0% m/m in April
following March's robust 2.6% gain. We expect a good portion of the April
weakness to be focused in the volatile transportation category, given data
showing a falloff in nondefense aircraft orders at Boeing from March's solid
readings."
- Morgan Stanley forecast durable goods orders excluding transportation
equipment "to fall by 1.1% in April, given the soft print in durable goods
manufacturing in the April industrial production report. Overall durable goods
orders, are set to print a considerable 3.1% decline in our forecasts, following
a 1.0% increase in March."
