Parkland Burnaby Refinery Shuts Processing Unit After Restart Issue

The Parkland 55kb/d Burnaby refinery in British Columbia, Canada shut down processing operations for approximately four weeks according to the company yesterday.

  • The company “encountered an issue” with a processing unit at the refinery on Jan 21.
  • The refinery paused some operations due to the extreme cold weather last week and ran into problems during the restart.
  • Refined fuel imports will in the meantime be increased into its on-site shipping terminal to fulfill deliveries to customers in lower mainland and Vancouver Island.
  • Blending, shipping, terminal, and rack activities remain operational.
