Pemex Mexico Refineries Run Near 8-Year High in March

Pemex refineries in Mexico ran at an almost 8-year high in March according to official data processed by Bloomberg.

  • Pemex’s 6 refineries in Mexico operated at 65.3% of capacity in March – the highest since June 2016. The rates remained above 50% of capacity for the fourth straight month. They have a combined total capacity of 1.627mn bpd.
  • Rates for the new Dos Bocas refinery have not been declared but the refinery is expected to start diesel production from May according to reports on Friday – 2 months later than planned.
  • Pemex rates are expected to fall in April after fires at two of the refineries which is causing Pemex to export more crude in May than initially planned according to Reuters reports on Friday.
