Pemex Salina Cruz Oil Terminal Reopening Delayed by Weather

OIL

The reopening of Pemex’s Pacific oil-export terminal Salina Cruz has been delayed by bad weather, according to Bloomberg.

  • Pemex is working to replace a single buoy mooring III, after wind broke ropes and detached hoses on 1 Juy.
  • The terminal was expected to reopen 2-4 August, but the expected recommence exports of crude oil has been delayed to 7-9 August.
  • The delay has created a backlog of four vessels set to load a total of around 6m bbl of crude from the terminal, including two VLCCs, a Suezmax, and a Supertanker.
  • Pemex also shut down its largest oil exporting terminal, the FPSO terminal, on 30 July. Both terminals, FPSO and Salina Cruz, were expected to resume service last week. There has been no update on the resumption of the FPSO terminal.
