ASIA: Per the FT: "Covid-19 is expected to result in a $3tn hit to
Asia-Pacific's economy over this year and next as a bid to save and pay down
debt will slow spending, according to S&P Global Ratings. S&P forecasts the
region's economy will shrink by 1.3 per cent in 2020 but it will achieve 6.9 per
cent growth in 2021. Shaun Roache, chief economist for S&P Global Ratings
praised Asia-Pacific's success in both containing the virus and deploying
macroeconomic policies to support economies, but warned of a "balance sheet
recession" - when governments, companies or households opt to bolster savings,
pay off debts and spend less in a bid to shore up their finances."
