POWER: PGE to Buy Stake in Ze Pak’s 2.8GW Nuclear, 600MW Gas Units

PGE is set to purchase a 50% stake in Ze Pak’s 2.8GW nuclear power project and a 100% stake in a 600MW gas-fired unit, with the deadline for negotiations set for 30 June, it said in a filing
- Under the previous government, PGE and ZE PAK were collaborating to build a nuclear plant with KHNP in central Poland.
- According to the plan, two reactors with a total installed capacity of 2.8GW will provide 22 TWh of energy annually, which corresponds to 12% of the current demand for electricity in Poland, Ze Pak said last year.
- Ze Pak has received approval from the Ministry of Climate and Environment to build a nuclear power plant in Konin, aligning with Poland’s energy policy.
