Philly Fed Non-Mfg Sees Mixed Improvement In January

US DATA
  • The Philly Fed non-manufacturing index climbed from -12.8 to -6.5 in January to its highest since September.
  • Somewhat mixed details, with new orders jumping from -2.1 to +10.8 to the highest since March but the 6-month ahead general activity falling back from 6.4 to 2.4 and unwinding half of December’s improvement.
  • Prices paid showed a further sizeable decline, down 5.6pts to 46.1 having been 79.4 in October and its lowest since Jun’21, but this lags the previous moderation in ISM services.
