PM Johnson: No Lifting Of Russia Sanctions If Ceasefire Agreed In Ukraine

Speaking to the House of Commons Liaison Committee (livestream here) Prime Minister Boris Johnson states that the UK gov't is "looking to go up a gear in support for Ukrainians as they defende themselves."

  • Johnson: "The question is can we help the Ukrainians relieve Mariupol. Would armour, would APCs, be useful to them?"'
  • Johnson says sanctions on Russia should be increased until all Russian troops have left Ukraine.
  • Johnson says he would not lift sanctions if there is a ceasefire. Says it plays "straight into Putin's playbook", calls "every single one of his troops out of Ukraine"
