  • While Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer stated his support for the gov'ts actions yesterday he is likely to maintain his effective questioning of the PM on the UK's testing capabilities and backlog. Comes on the back of a well-received speech Starmer delivered to the virtual Labour party conference taking place this week.
  • PM is also likely to face some angry questioning from some of his own backbench MPs. Some have objected to the manner in which the new rules have been introduced, stating that due to their restriction of civil liberties they must be debated in and approved by parliament. Others are opposed to the greater restrictions due to, among other things, the inevitable damage tighter restrictions will cause to the economy, the negative impact on those suffering with mental health issues, and the increased likelihood of other severe medical conditions going untreated as individuals avoid hospitals and doctors' surgeries.
