Poland Continues Consultations On Court Bill Supported By Most Poles

  • In an interview with Gazeta Polska, ruling Law and Justice party leader Kaczynski refused to speculate on the fate of the court bill which was taken off parliament's agenda after skeptical comments from President Andrzej Duda. Kaczynski told the newspaper that the European Commission would "probably, but not certainly" deem the adoption of the bill as meeting its milestones for the release of recovery funds for Poland, but the consequences could be destructive for the judicial system, which is why the bill thus requires further consultations.
  • More than 66% of Poles support the adoption of the court bill, according to an opinion poll for DGP/RMF FM. Just about 19% of people are of the contrary opinion. The survey indicated cross-partisan backing for the bill in the electorate.
  • The domestic docket is very light today, with Finance Minister Rzeczkowska set to speak in an interview with PAP newswire.
