POLAND
  • Prime Minister Donald Tusk called on "all the patrons and initiators of Nord Stream 1 and 2" to "apologise and stay silent," pushing back against speculation on who could have conducted a sabotage act leading to the destruction of the pipeline. This comes after a WSJ source piece attributed blame to a group of Ukrainians, while other reports noted that Poland failed to act on an arrest warrant issued by Germany against a man accused of involvement in the sabotage act.
  • Finance Minister Andrzej Domanski said that the government is not currently working on tax increases or raising the retirement age. In a separate interview, Domanski struck an optimistic note on growth prospects, noting that GDP should expand by almost 4% next year. The government's official 2025 growth forecast is +3.7% Y/Y.
  • Tusk reiterated that he was not intending to contest next year's presidential election, pushing back against speculation that he could run. This increases the probability of Warsaw Mayor Rafal Trzaskowski being the ruling Civic Coalition's candidate.
